Classroom Goals:
Social Development:
- Beginning a foundation for sharing
- Waiting and taking turns
- Encouraging awareness for other’s feelings
Language Development:
- Recognition of their own name (said verbally)
- Encouraging the use of words to express needs
- Following simple directions
- Listening and responding to stories
Emotional Development:
- Encouraging child to indicate needs in socially acceptable ways
- Building self-esteem, tolerance and respect for others, as well as property
- Encouraging independence in eating, cleaning-up, dressing and classroom participation
Cognitive Development
- The beginnings of identifying objects and people
- Sorting and classifying objects
- Recognition of colours, simple shapes and text in books as words
- Able to mimic everyday routines in their play
Motor Skills
- Developing large motor skills through outdoor play and indoor active movement (ie. Dancing)
- Developing small motor skills through manipulative toys, music and finger plays as creative activities
Classroom
- Provides a safe, functional and fun environment
- Consistency in schedule, routines and expectations
- Ensuring excellence in the health and safety of our toddlers each day
- To establish positive and productive relationships with families
