Classroom Goals:

Social Development:

  • Beginning a foundation for sharing
  • Waiting and taking turns
  • Encouraging awareness for other’s feelings

Language Development:

  • Recognition of their own name (said verbally)
  • Encouraging the use of words to express needs
  • Following simple directions
  • Listening and responding to stories

Emotional Development:

  • Encouraging child to indicate needs in socially acceptable ways
  • Building self-esteem, tolerance and respect for others, as well as property
  • Encouraging independence in eating, cleaning-up, dressing and classroom participation

Cognitive Development

  • The beginnings of identifying objects and people
  • Sorting and classifying objects
  • Recognition of colours, simple shapes and text in books as words
  • Able to mimic everyday routines in their play

Motor Skills

  • Developing large motor skills through outdoor play and indoor active movement (ie. Dancing)
  • Developing small motor skills through manipulative toys, music and finger plays as creative activities

Classroom

  • Provides a safe, functional and fun environment
  • Consistency in schedule, routines and expectations
  • Ensuring excellence in the health and safety of our toddlers each day
  • To establish positive and productive relationships with families
